Amal Sherawat’s Gay Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai faces a speed bump!

An unexpected twist of events…

Actor Amal Sherawat, who was seen in the show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai will soon be seen in a short film depicting Gay marriage in India. He would be accompanied by his Co-star, Alok Nath in the film. The film aims to showcase the trouble a gay couple has to go through in India.

The short film was all set for release, but it has received a major setback. According to our sources, the makers of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai have objected the film for having a similar name since Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is a family show that has been on air for a long time. The conflict of ideologies and concepts has caused the problem. Apparently, the Short films’ name has been changed. However, there is no news if the content of the film would be changed too.

Gay Rishta was one of the most anticipated short films this year and we hope that these changes do not affect the film in any way!

Rajeev Khandelwal to host documentary on Rath Yatra

Actor Rajeev Khandelwal is set to host a documentary, titled “The Legend Of Jagannath,” which brings to us behind-the-scenes look at the Indian religious festival of Rath Yatra.

Actor Rajeev Khandelwal is set to host a documentary, titled “The Legend Of Jagannath,” which bring to us behind-the-scenes look at the Indian religious festival of Rath Yatra.

The hour-long documentary, to be aired on National Geographic channel on July 4, will showcase the colour and ceremonies associated with Rath Yatra, a festival in Odisha which involves moving deities of Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhadra and Sudarshana on wooden chariots.

The Rath Yatra, featured in the documentary, will show the custom of replacing old idols of the deities with new ones – a practice that happens after either eight, twelve or nineteen years.
Rajeev, who calls himself an atheist, says he was curious to know more about the festival and why it attracts several devotees.

“I got an opportunity to witness something as huge as this, which is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and be a part of the Rath Yatra. I am an atheist, which is why I wanted to go. I wanted to go there and see what brings people in such big numbers and why,” Rajeev told IANS.

“I actually went there and witnessed the faith, the sheer experience… It’s difficult to put it in words. Not that I converted after that, but I understood the faith that people have, their fear of god and their beliefs,” he added.

The actor feels, that a majority of Indians believe in God, and that they have their own reasons for having that faith.
“You can see how it has transformed their lives and their world. Some people come from remote corners of the country just to attend the Yatra,” the 40-year-old said.

This documentary, which is a Nat Geo Exclusive, will showcase what happens behind the scenes; much before the actual event that is. So, there’s an in-depth analysis of the making of the new chariots and the new idols of the deities – also explaining why the appearance of these deities is so different.

“The Legend of Jagannanth” will tell the story of the carpenters of the gigantic chariots, who instead of using measuring tapes for construction, have relied on the centuries-old tradition, of using hand spans for generations.

It will also showcase what it takes to host the huge event on such a big scale. Other aspects, such as the food, as well as the security arrangements, for over a million of people visiting here, will be touched upon. The documentary will also explore the legend and the mythology revolving around the origin of Jagannath.

I didn’t want to be a glam doll doing stupid stuff..

says the Amma of television, Urvashi Sharma!

Zee TV recently launched a 52 episodes finite series Amma – ‘Ek Maa Jo Laakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma’. The show is produced by Salt Media LLP.

The show marks the television debut of the film actor Urvashi Sharma essaying the author-backed title role. Seen for the very first time in a de-glam avatar, the actor has gone to great lengths to prepare for the role.
It is the story of a mother, who emerged as a matriarch to millions.
We at TellyBuzz got in touch with this gorgeous actress Urvashi Sharma, who will be making a debut with her role of a mother, Zeenat i.e. Amma with the show.

Coming from Bollywood to Tellywood, what made you take up the show Amma?
This character of Amma is an author based character. It is a very powerful role for a woman to be featured in. Looking at the industry as a whole, it is a male dominating industry. So for me to get this type of film was very difficult. I didn’t want to be a glam doll doing stupid stuff. I wanted to do something meaningful and sensible instead. And talking about television, I feel TV has more reach than films. Not everybody would go out to watch the film in theatres, but they could watch TV serials sitting at home.

We cannot underestimate the power of television as it goes to each and every house. In fact, we are not shooting this like a serial, but we are shooting it like a short film. Every episode would be like a film.
Being Amma, a strong portrayal of powerful women, who in real life is your inspiration?
My mother is a very strong woman. I believe every housewife is a strong woman because she manages everything – husband, kid, relatives, house, friends, herself, and everything. She is a normal woman yet good at multi-tasking. It is related to all and so all the women inspire me.

You have almost shot for a month, how is the experience going on?
Experience has been superb. We have shot almost 40 days and coming from such a different background, it takes time to settle into such an intense role. Especially the costume, I wear western dresses, but here I need to wear a Salwar Kameez along with the dupatta on the head. Even the accessories, I bought my own, because in my daily life I only wear diamond jewellery. For the show, I brought gold accessories since I am allergic to artificial accessories, so I had no choice but to buy.

What are your expectations from your comeback project?
I have huge expectations because we are working very hard. It has a great script and this should set a trend. We should move forward from blind faith and superstitions and get real.

What message would you like to give to your fans?
The character of Zeenat is ahead of its time. She thinks that women should be respectable and be given equal importance and that is what she fights for. All small girls that will see this character will get inspired and want to be like her. Everybody would relate to her, right from young to old. Even men would relate to her as this is how they want their women to be – strong and independent.

We wish Urvashi Sharma all the good luck for her debut Television project!

The Tale of three Glitterati Brothers- Ishqbaaz

Produced by Gul Khan under her banner 4 Lions Films, the show is slated to go on air from 27th June at 10 pm on STAR Plus.

They are rich! They are powerful! They are the most talked about eligible bachelors in the country! They are the Oberoi Brothers, Omkara, Rudra and Shivaay. Three handsome heirs of a colossal business Empire, who have been bred with power, wear taste, and attitude with innate flair and walk knowing that they simply own the world.

After years of creating iconic and exceptional stories, Star Plus is ready to give the audience a larger than life canvas with “Ishqbaaaz” that is a diffusion of vivid emotions like love and hate, revenge and redemption. Produced by Gul Khan under her banner 4 Lions Films, the show is slated to go on air from 27th June at 10 pm on STAR Plus.
Set in the backdrop of Mumbai, the Oberois are the modern day equivalent of Indian royalty, who seek power and glamour but it is the bond between the current generation of the Oberoi brothers that is at the heart of the story of “Ishqbaaaz”.

Shivaay Oberoi played by Nakuul Mehta lets his mind rule over his heart. A cut throat businessman for whom business and family lineage means everything. Shivaay strives to be the most powerful man in the world, wearing his arrogance and pride on his sleeve. One can come face to face with his humane side only when he is with his siblings.

Omkara Oberoi played by Kunal Jaisingh is an artist in his entirety and is equally charismatic as his elder brother. He is caustic and blunt in his approach, a trait most artists possess but at the same time, he is chivalrous and compassionate to people around him. His love for his brothers remains unconditional despite some differences of opinion he may have with the older one.

Rudra Oberoi played by Leenesh Mattoo is the youngest, most handsome and the ultimate modern day metrosexual male, who makes his way to a woman’s heart with his charming looks and his penchant for cooking. Vanity, thy name is Rudra, is a line that is written just for him. His wandering ways at times do land him in trouble but then his brothers always come to his rescue.

Sharing his thoughts on the new show, Star Plus’ spokesperson said, “Star Plus has always presented and represented stories which project Nayi soch. Contrary to the prevailing belief of youngsters being indifferent to family ties, in our latest offering Ishqbaaaz, the younger generation has been shown as the ones that value family bonds and relationships and are instrumental in keeping the family united. Ishqbaaaz is our endeavour to continue to showcase content that will live up to what we promised our viewers; “Rishta Wahi Soch Nayi”.”
The multi-starrer will also see Siraj Mustafa, Mahesh Thakur, Mreenal Deshraj and Reyhna Malhotra.
