Kasautii Zindagii Kay: New ‘Komolika’ Aamna Sharif praises Hina Khan!

Rumours were recently all over that Kasautii Zindagii Kay will soon witness the re-entry of Komolika.

However, Hina Khan is not returning to the show as she is focusing on her Bollywood projects. And the new Komolika is none other than Aamna Sharif of Kahiin Toh Hoga fame. For the unversed, the actress was last seen in Ek Thhi Naayika (2013) and now she is all set to come back with her show. And now, in an interview with Times of India, Aamna opened up about her break and on her role as Komolika.

She said that she wanted to reinvent her personal life and that’s why she took a break. She added that she could have been made her comeback with a love story but that wouldn’t have satiated her as an actor. Aamna stated,” It’s always a different kind of rush to surprise your audience. So, when I was offered the role of Komolika, I instinctively knew that this is what will challenge me the most as an actor.”

She also said that she feels how there are no black or white characters anymore as they are all grey in their ways. And if the character is interesting and adds value to the story in a big way then actors, she thinks, do not think whether they are a lead or not.

She also commented whether she is apprehensive about being compared to Hina Khan. She said, “I haven’t seen the show and so didn’t get a chance to see the way Hina portrayed it. But I have heard she was doing a commendable job.”

Well, it will be great to see if Aamna manages to portray the role better.

Sunny Leone bags Ekta Kapoor’s web series based on Kama Sutra?

Sunny Leone, who has acted in films like Jism 2, Jackpot, Ragini MMS 2, Ek Paheli Leela and Tera Intezaar, has bagged a new project. Reportedly, she will be seen in Ekta Kapoor’s web series based on Kama Sutra.

Earlier, the actress, who is currently seen on Splitsvilla 12, has starred in her auto-biopic series Karenjit Kaur The Untold Story of Sunny Leone. The web series streaming on Zee 5, traces her sensational journey from being a middle-class Sikh girl to a successful porn star to now a popular Bollywood actress.

Now, according to a report in Mid-day, Ekta Kapoor has conceptualised a web series based on Kama Sutra, and Sunny Leone has been approached to play the lead. A source spoke to the tabloid and revealed, “Discussions have been on between the duo (Sunny Leone and Ekta Kapoor) over the past few months. Sunny has heard the outline of the show and has agreed in principle to be part of it. The two have earlier successfully collaborated for Ragini MMS 2 (2014) and Ekta is convinced that the actor is the right person for the role.” The ALTBalaji series will be set in the 13th century.

Days of lead roles, per se, long gone: Manasi Parekh

“Uri: The Surgical Strike” actress Manasi Parekh says she is interested in playing good roles irrespective of their size as she feels that nowadays, movies are not just about the lead characters.

“Playing a lead role, you know… the days of lead roles, per se, I think they are long gone. It’s all about making each character work because it was only in the olden times that you had the lead character who was the most important and the others were not really given much to do, speak or say but I think those days are gone,” Manasi told IANS.

She feels that filmmakers are now realising that every character needs to contribute to the whole story of a film.

“So, I am open to any good role… be it big, small, lead or not lead. Having said that, I am working on a project right now, where I am playing the lead. It’s a feature film,” said the actress, who played the on-screen sister of actor Vicky Kaushal in this year’s blockbuster “Uri: The Surgical Strike”.

“Uri: The Surgical Strike” and her short film “Laddoo” both won the prestigious National Awards this year.

“I am just happy that I was a part of two of the most watched and promising films of this year,” said the “India Calling” actress.

She is excited about her new short film, “Maternity Blues”, directed by Ritam Srivastav.

“I play the central character. It’s the story of this woman who gives her womb on rent. We all know that commercial surrogacy is banned in India. So, the film explores why that happens,” said Manasi.

“Also, I think it’s a topic that needs more discussion because one needs to know what happens and what goes behind the whole surrogacy market in India and this film highlights that. It has already won an award at a Calcutta film festival. It’s going to be travelling to festivals in the UK and Los Angeles. I am very excited for that,” she said.

Manasi is also busy with a Gujarati film.

“It’s a very exciting project that I am working on. It’s a lead role in a Gujarati feature film,” she shared.
